About the same time Verizon Wireless was screwing up and sending me a phone I didn't order -- a clear violation of FTC regulations -- Best Buy did the same thing to a lady who ordered an iPad. The difference? Good Guy Best Buy told the lady to keep the four extra iPads they accidentally sent her. Goodwill abounds!
Same story, totally different outcomes. Best Buy stepped up, valued its customer, and did the right thing. Scumbag Verizon decided to be an asshole, threaten its customers, and draw out the process even more.
I sent my story to The Consumerist -- the people who broke the Best Buy story -- so we'll see what happens next. Honestly, I'll be happy to get my refund and contract adjustment without any further hiccups. My wife and I will be switching to T-Mobile pre-paid in February.
